Come see the site of one of the Cold-War-Era Titan ballistic missiles that, for over twenty years, formed a ring around the Tucson basin. On your underground tour, you can see the immense 740-ton roll-back silo door, sit in a launch-control operator?s seat at the control panel, and watch demonstrations of monitoring and countdown procedures. Asarco Copper Museum
Open pit and mill tours feature exhibits on geology, mining and the uses of minerals as well as videos in the Discovery Theatre and a gift shop for copper, and Southwestern arts and crafts. Exit I-19 at Pima Mine Road (380) Call (520) 625.7513.
Fred Lawrence Whipple/Mount Hopkins Observatory
This world-renowned astronomical observatory is set atop of the second highest peak in the Santa Rita Mountains overlooking Green Valley. Guided tours from March through November. Take I-19 to Canoa Road exit (#56). Turn right on the east frontage road and follow signs. Call (520) 670-5707.
Madera Canyon
Located in the Santa Rita Mountains, east of Green Valley, the canyon is home to many rare plants and animals. One of America?s bird-watching "hot-spots." Numerous picnic areas and hiking trails of all levels of difficulty. Take Continental Road east and turn right on Madera Canyon Road.
San Xavier Mission
The "White Dove of the Desert." Considered by many to be the finest example of Mission architecture in the United States. Open daily 9-6. Take I-19 north to the San Xavier Road exit. Call (520) 294-2624.
Tumacacori Mission National Historic Park
Just south of Tubac on I-19, this beautiful Spanish Mission was built in 1795. The Mission grounds are part of the legacy of one of southern Arizona?s most legendary figures, Father Eusebio Francisco Kino. Tubac, AZ
Visit the former European settlement which is now a thriving arts and crafts village. Galleries, restaurants and shops open 6 days a week (Closed Mondays). 15 miles south of Green Valley on I-19.

Kitt Peak National Observatory
Established in 1958 as the United States? first national observatory, the world's largest collection of optical telescopes is located on the Tohono O'odham Reservation, high above the Sonoran Desert. Kitt Peak is home to twenty-two telescopes representing dozens of astronomical research institutions. Site of the 158" Mayall telescope and the McMath solar telescope, the world?s largest solar observation instument. Explore the Visitor Center exhibits and gift shop to learn about astronomy. Old Tucson Studios

Tombstone, AZ

Bisbee, AZ
A charming 1800?s mining town built on a steep hillside. Visit arts and crafts shops, famous Brewery Gultch, and one of the world?s largest open-pit copper mines. Take one of the daily mine train rides. 24 miles south of Tombstone on US Route 80.
Nogales, Mexico
Visit the colorful, international city of Nogales, Sonora. Lots of vendors showing their artful wares. Visitor pass unnecessary within 15 miles of the US border. Park on the Arizona side and walk into Mexico! 40 miles south of Green Valley on I-19.
Arivaca Walking Tours

Saguaro National Monument
See the magnificent Arizona-Sonora Desert on both the east and west side of Tucson. On the east is the Rincon Mountain Section, containing Monument Headquarters and exhibits. Sabino Canyon
& Seven Falls
A beautiful National Park and recreation area. Paved and unpaved hiking trails cover the canyon and beyond. Daily tram tours run every half-hour during most of the day. In Tucson take Tanque Verde Road east to Sabino Canyon Road, then north. Call (520) 749-2861.
Mt Lemmon
A National Park, forested with aspen and ponderosa pines. At over 9,000 feet, it is the highest peak in the Santa Catalina Mountains. Picnic areas and viewpoints are located at various elevations. The nation?s southernmost ski area operates in the winter, depending on snow conditions. See the resort town of Summerhaven. In Tucson, take Tanque Verde Road east to the Catalina Highway.
Colossal Cave

The Tucson Museum of Art

Flandrau Planetarium

The International Wildlife Museum
Over 300 animals from around the world are featured, including natural history exhibits displaying animals in their natural habitats; plus wildlife art and nature films. Tucson Botanical Gardens

Reid Park Zoo
Tucson?s zoo is home to over 400 exotic animals and is involved in captive breeding programs for several threatened and endangered species including the giant anteater, Siberian tiger, white rhino, Grevy?s zebra, and others.
